LAO FOOD FOUNDATION
Lao Chefs come together in Luang Prabang.
Lao chefs from both the US and Laos met in the north of Laos and exchanged ideas about Lao food, traditions and the surge in recognition this unique cuisine is experiencing in many parts of the world.
The intro by Channapha Khamvongsa was recorded later on as the group had to quickly make their way home after the news of Covid 19 started to effect people’s travel arrangements.
Luang Prabang half marathon
Another year , another great half marathon. All funds raised will go to support Lao Friends Hospital for Children.
Lao Friends Hospital for Children
We believe every child has the right to a healthy and happy life.
Friends built and opened Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Since then, AHC has treated over 1.6 million children and trained thousands of healthcare professionals. In January of 2013, Friends and AHC celebrated a long-held goal as Izu presented the hospital to the AHC staff.
Lao Friends Hospital for Children
Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC) opened in 2015 and provides free medical care to over 15,000 children each year. Patients and their families often travel long distances, up to 8 hours, to receive the medical care available at LFHC. Every child is treated with high-quality and compassionate medical care, following the motto of “treat every patient as if your own child.”
LFHC is a comprehensive hospital in northern Laos and currently includes: inpatient & outpatient departments, an emergency department, neonatal unit, an operating theater, laboratory, pharmacy, and radiology department. LFHC is also a teaching hospital and provides continued medical education for its staff and district medical professionals. LFHC sees over 1,800 patients each month with common ailments such as infectious diseases, malnutrition, anemia and renal conditions.
Laos has the highest under-5 mortality rate in all Southeast Asia, with one out of 15 children not reaching their fifth birthday.
We are proud to have brought our model of compassionate care to Laos.

Child Safe guarding SCI
Child Safe Guarding film for Save the Children in Laos
The film was made in close cooperation with the children of the Luang Prabang library and their care givers. You will see below a compilation of stills that were taken from the film to show you part of the method we used. This included IPad transitions, whiteboard animatons, set up scenarios and digital studio backgrounds for the two main presenters. Overall we had a lot of fun making this film and the kids loved being part of the process.

Mentoring in the Heart of the Hospital
A film I made as part of a larger series for Save the Children working in Northern Laos.
Mentoring is a reciprocal and collaborative at-will relationship that most often occurs between a senior and junior employee for the purpose of the mentee’s growth, learning, and career development. Often the mentor and mentee are internal to an organization, and there is an emphasis on organizational goals, culture, career goals, advice on professional development, and work-life balance. Effective mentors often act as role models and sounding boards for their mentee and provide guidance to help them reach their goals.
Mentoring can be formal or informal. In an informal environment, mentees set goals, but they are usually not measurable and the relationships are unstructured. For a formal mentoring relationship, there are actionable and measurable goals defined and set with determined requirements.
