This promo was made with support from the US Embassy in Vientiane and part of a larger project to make a 50 minute documentary about the Heritage of Luang Prabang. This video received around 120.000 views via Social Media. Please embed this anywhere to help promote this lovely South East Asian town.
In December 2015 the historic town of Luang Prabang will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of its inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Working closely with the U.S. Embassy in Vientiane we are producing a set of 4 short promos and also a longer form film showing parts of the amazing cultural heritage of Luang Prabang. Through the AFCP (The Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation) ten projects in Luang Prabang, including the restoration of Wat Xieng Thong, the restoration of Artifacts at Wat Visoun, the conservation of Buddhist archives and many more have received support from the U.S.
I felt privileged to work on this edit for this short film about the wonderful and great artist Elliott Erwitt. I’ve been a fan for a long time. The interview was filmed by Yumiko Izu and Kenro Izu conducted the interview. Please check the link to the Friends Without A Border the NGO he supports: www.fwab.org
Friends Without A Border: More in depth information about the plans for the up coming year including some material of the Grand Opening that took place on February the 11th, 2015.
Laos has been known as the “Land of a Million Elephants” for generations. Today, however, there are less than 900 elephants remaining in the country. The future of Asia’s largest land mammal, as well as the people who have cared for them for generations, has reached a crisis point. If elephants die out, not only does it mean the loss of a wonderful creature, but the end of an age-old culture as well.
Eight months from now, an elephant caravan will begin its journey across northern Laos: 12 elephants will spend six weeks travelling 630 kilometers, making stops at 46 villages.
On February 11th, 2015, Friends Without A Border joined the community of Lao PDR to celebrate the Grand Opening of Lao Friends Hospital for Children in Luang Prabang, Laos.
This short compilation of clips shows some work I’ve done over the last few months as part of a documentary about Luang Prabang heritage I am working on. Apart from the documentary we will also produce 4 shorter 1 to 2 min promos showcasing and promoting the anniversary since Luang Prabang became inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
